Watering the plants

Showing their sense of caring towards trees and plants, my students decided to water the plants that we planted previously- as a part of our plan for "Students Unlimited" projects- inside our school garden instead of the guard. Students were thrilled to water the garden. they even taught each other the correct way to water the plants in order not to harm the roots of the plants. Here are some pictures of that day:

Cleaning Campaign inside the School

On 17th of January 2011 we hold a cleaning campaign inside our school. The students were thrilled during the campaign because they were participating in cleaning their school. Students were unhappy to see rubbish  that was thrown everywhere. They also were unhappy to see some chairs that were moved from their original places, so they decided to return them back to their original places inside classrooms. Here are some pictures:

RECYCLING

Recycling is the act of collecting and treating rubbish to produce useful materials which can be used again. Believing in the fact that recycling is a good way to clean up our environment, on Wednesday 12th January 2011 we decided to hold a workshop on recycling paper waste. There are a lot of things that people can recycle such as papers, plastic, glasses, cans or tins and other things. We decided to recycle paper waste, since there are a lot of papers inside our school that teachers throw from the previous year. Some students bring some newspapers from their homes. We also asked students to bring empty shoes cartoons in order to change them into useful boxes. Moreover, we used some unused wrapping paper to cover the boxes. The materials that we used are: newspapers, papers, corn flour, and vinegar. Students were thrilled to make things out of papers. Here are some pictures taken during the workshop:

Food Poisoning

Food is very important in our life but some people ignore the fact that it  is very important to keep food clean  in order not to be contaminated. Food poisoning is common and sometimes it can be deadly illness. Typical symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, and diarrhea that occur suddenly after consuming a contaminated food or drink. One of my students will hold a workshop about food Poisoning inside the school. one of them will do it outside the school for some housewives. This workshop was aimed specificlly for housewives but we decided also to do for student inside the school.

This is a short play that my students are going to perform one day next week in Arabic as well as in English.

The first scene

In the middle of the room, there is a table. On this table there is a big plate full of different kind of food. Suddenly Shaiyma enters the room and she goes ahead to the table.

Shaiyma says: "I am hungry, I can not wait anymore". Suddenly she looks at the plate on the table.

Shaiyma say: "thank God. How lucky I am. The food is calling me. Wait for me I am coming".

At this time her sister Fatma enters the room. She sees her sister Shaiyma is trying to eat from the uncovered plate and she shouted at her.

Fatma: "Shaiyma stop, do not eat from this plate."

Shaiyma, confused and angry:" You scared me. What's wrong with you? I am hungry".

Fatma: "but this food is uncovered"

Shaiyma: "covered or uncovered. I don't care about it. The most important thing is that I am hungry.

Fatma: " but if you eat this food you will get sick"

Shaiyma: " Shut up. I know that you want to eat it by yourself".

Fatma: " No, my sister. I am afraid that you will get sick from this uncovered food. You do not know how many germs are there on it . I am sure there were many flies land on it".

Shaiyma: " I don't believe you and I will eat from this plate".

Shaiyma starts eating from the plate and her sister tries to stop her but she couldn't.

Shaiyma: " What a delicious food. Look at me. I am well. I did not get sic…..si oh oh oh
Shaiyma starts shouting and yelling holding her stomach.

Fatma: " what's wrong, Shaiyma? Mom……………….mom

The mother enters the room quickly

The mother: "What happened? What's wrong with you Shaiyma?

Fatma: "She was eating food from the uncovered plate on the table and then she started shouting and yelling".

Shaiyma: "my stomach…..help me…..

Fatma: " Let's take her to the hospital quickly".

Everybody runs from the room and after a short time they come back

The second scene

Fatma: " Thanks God you are good now".

The mother: "Shaiyma, your sister's presence is what save your life".

Shaiyma: "Thank you Fatma and forgive me for insulting you".

The mother: " and you Fatma, But why you let her to eat from the uncovered plate?"

Shaiyma: "No. mother. She tired to stop me and she advised me but I did not listen to her".

Fatma: " This is not important. The most important thing here is that you learned your lesson".

Shaiyma:" I learn not to eat from uncovered food".

The mother:" Yes, Shaiyma. Your are right because the uncovered food is unhealthy".

Fatma: yes, that is true and our religion encourage us to be clean and eat clean food".

Shaiyma: " I promise you to be clean and keep clean".

Fatma: "Yes, Shaiyma because cleanliness is close to God".

Planting inside the school

After we came back from our visit to Wadi Jasim Nursery, we decided to plant the trees we bought in the scientific garden inside our school. The students were so happy to participate in planting the trees. Also other students from other groups decided to help us. It was really a great experience for students. The most amazing part is that all the workers inside the school came to help us like the guard, the stuff. We were very happy. We took some photos and I also asked students to write a report about this day.
